This weekend I was afforded a pretty fantastic opportunity to spend some time with two incredibly talented creatives, Ashley Woodson Bailey and Ginny Branch. In the grand scheme of all things beautiful and creative, I’m just a spec of dust compared to these two ladies. People like this amaze me because they are at a level of artsy that I can only aspire to so you can understand why I practically invited myself to spend an afternoon with them. Let’s be honest, I’m hoping some of that talent will rub off on me if I weasel my way into hanging out with them. The afternoon was spent at Ginny’s studio over at the Goat Farm in a space that can only be described as a prop stylist’s heaven. When it was all said and done I wanted to confiscate a few of the beautiful cake stands for my home which is pretty ridiculous as I don’t bake.
We honestly just hung out watching Ashley arrange these beautiful flowers. And I occasionally took a few pictures of Ashley working her floral talents. To be blunt, I just stood back in awe and secretly wished I’d made off with the arrangement. Alas, I did not, but I can assure you that one of the images you see below will be printed and hanging on my living room wall. I’m leaning towards either the 3rd or 4th one down.
What I took away from the afternoon was that breaking away from my ordinary, daily life is a good thing. Exposing myself to a world of beauty beyond the lens, while in this instance was surreal, is necessary. Sometimes I forget that art doesn’t simply exist at the hands of a camera…there’s so much beauty out there. Especially when peonies are involved.
