If you’ve been following this blog, you may recognize these two adorable faces. I was introduced to Jackson and Owen back in November when we met to do an end of the year holiday card session. There is nothing better than being able to see these little peanuts grow up. I know it’s only been a few months since I last saw these boys, but much has changed. At our last session, Jackson hammed it up. Silly faces were abundant. Owen, on the other hand, was shy. I even joked that the last session should have been renamed “The Jackson Hour”. But things changed last Saturday. While Jackson hit the playground, climbing and sliding, wearing the coolest monster-eared hoodie, Owen held court. And this time it became “The Owen Hour”.
Like I said, I know it’s only been a few months since I last saw these two, but it’s amazing and fantastic how much things have changed. Owen is walking and turning into such a big boy. Jackson is adventurous and independent. But one thing that hasn’t changed…the love they have for their mommy and daddy…and each other. Is there really anything better?
Another month has flown by and my little Camden is one step closer to hitting his first birthday. He’s 7 months now and while in the grand scheme of things 7 months is a blip on the birthday radar, it’s HUGE in his world. He’s developing the most adorable personality. He babbles a mile a minute. He smiles like it’s going out of style. He’s becoming such a little boy.
We took to our monthly birthday set up over the weekend and as usual, had the best time. As my dad said, “the kid can spot a camera a mile away”. And he can. He has become quite the little model. If he can just put up with it for another 5 months, we’ll be all set.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
It’s funny, no matter what I do, I am constantly working to improve my skills, test my strengths, and attempt new things. In my 9-5 job, I’m a freak. I’m uber-competitive….just ask my sister or any of my co-workers. I’m no different with my photography. So this past weekend I decided it was time to step out of my comfort zone and photograph couples. It’s pretty apparent that I absolutely adore photographing children. And now that I have Camden, there’s even more passion in it. But couples, that’s totally different. That’s a whole other ballgame and one that I’m dying to master.
I emailed my friend Blayne (an amazing architectural photographer) and asked if she’d be willing to grab her boyfriend for a guinea pig session. They kindly obliged. We took to the incredibly gorgeous Westminster campus (if you’ve seen The Blind Side, you know the school) as well as Hermi’s Bridge and spent the afternoon practicing. Blayne and Jimmy were fantastic. And adorable. And completely in love. And after a while, Jimmy started directing and posing. I think he was more comfortable in this session than Blayne and I were! And did I mention he was a trooper?
Thank you to Blayne and Jimmy for being the best test subjects ever. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
I love this family. It’s true. Natalie, also known as “the mom”, and I have been friends for a very, very long time. It was understood that I would automatically adore her child. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Nate is the most gorgeously adorable child around. I promised Natalie after Nate was born that we’d do a family session. After many, many, many months, and a new baby (mine, not hers), we finally nailed down a date and made it happen. And I’m so glad we did. Nate is sweet and playful and smart and precious. And his parents, Jon and Natalie are absolutey in love. And I can totally understand why.

Having a little one around is quite an adventure. You’re introduced to all sorts of things you’d never thought about before; nebulizers, inhalers, you name it. So when you notice things like wonky eyes, it all becomes par for the course.
It’s the eye patch that makes it interesting…
and unequivocally adorable.
Say hello to Camden, my very own pirate baby. Arghhh, matey!
My sweet friend Kelley and her husband Jeff are expecting their first child in just a little over two months. In all the years I’ve known Kelley, (12 to be exact), I’ve known that she’s wanted kids. I’ve also known that she would make a phenomenal, loving mom. Maybe it’s her natural instinct to take care of people, nurture them, protect them. Well, all of those things plus her undying love for her sweet doggie, Murphy. Any way you look at it, she’s ready for this.
Being that Jeff is married to Kelley, I know that he, too, is up to the exciting adventure ahead.
And this is what happens when I tell them to let loose and forget I’m around. Silliness ensues.
I can’t express how thrilled I was to be a part of this. I can’t wait to meet baby Adams!
This time last year Atlanta was dealing with “Snowpocalypse” and I was quietly letting my friends know that I was pregnant.
This time last year I had no idea what life had in store for me.
This time last year I had no clue how happy I was about to be.
Our little man turned 6 months old on Sunday and with each passing month I am blown away by how much he’s grown. How much he’s changed. And how stinking adorable he has become. Watching him grow and develop is nothing short of amazing. He lives for Libby and Justice. He giggles and smiles and loves to say “whoa”. He sleeps through the night and splashes in his bath. And he makes me love him more every single day. Didn’t know that was humanly possible. (But it is.)
And just like every other monthly birthday, we celebrate with me shoving my camera in Camden’s face. I thought he was officially over it last month. After looking at these photos, I KNOW he’s over it.
Too bad kid. That face is too cute not to photograph. So, we’ve got 6 down and 6 more to go.
Happy half birthday little man.
Mommy loves you.
I can’t help but share some of my favorite photos from 2011. Some have been featured here on the blog, but others, for one reason or another, I held back. I’m quirky like that. And there may be an image of my son…you know, just sayin’.
So thanks to each and everyone of you for trusting me with your own precious ones. I’m so glad I’ve had the privelege of not just meeting you, but getting to know you as well.

Christmas has come and gone and life is semi back to normal. There are still signs of Christmas everywhere though…unwrapped presents scattered around the house, Christmas tree and lights are still up, and food (amazingly enough) is everywhere.
Our first Christmas with Camden was a special one. He’s too young to know what happened, but that didn’t stop us from documenting everything; from his evening meeting Santa to Christmas morning and a couple of moments in between. He may not remember his first Christmas, but he’ll have these photos to look back on forever. (Okay, okay, so his mom and dad will have these photos to cherish forever.)
I hope you all had a very merry Christmas creating memories of your own.
As we close in on Christmas, I wanted to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the amazing people I’ve met this year. Little did I know that this business would grow into something so special. After having Camden, I had planned on diving into photography head first with the hope of being able to book a few sessions. I had no idea that it would turn into this…this fantastic adventure that has introduced me to all of you. I can’t thank you enough for passing my name along to friends and family and for allowing me to photograph those most special to you… your children…your babies.
And what’s even more wonderful is that so many of you included pictures I had taken on your holiday cards. I am truly overwhelmed.
Thank you all for an incredible 2011.
Here’s to making more memories together in 2012.
Sincerely,
Katie O.
