Over the last too many years I care to admit few years, I’ve worked with many, many people. Not only in my photography business, but in my day job life. One of those people was new mom, Kate. We worked very briefly with each other when she was in the advertising industry. And to this day I will never forget sending her an email to what I quickly realized was the wrong address. Apparently, I had confused Kate Wells with Kate Middleton and had addressed the email accordingly. Looking at her it was an honest mistake. Both are clearly beautiful. One just happened to live in Atlanta while the other was on her way to the Royal throne. Obvious mistake. One which I’ve never actually shared with Kate Wells Robson…until now.
Fast forward to November when I received an email from her asking to photograph her new baby boy, Andrew. She was a little worried that she’d waited to get the photos done, but we found a time and made it happen. At the time of the session, Andrew was a month old and while some photographers swoon over the newborn, squishy, snuggly, sleepy baby, sometimes the face of a 1 month old is just as perfect. By 1 month, they’re starting to be more aware of their surroundings and like Andrew, they give the best faces. That photo up above is one of my favorites for the sheer fact that he’s staring directly at the camera. When I took that shot a few months ago, I had the sinking suspicion that Andrew was thinking, “lady, have you gotten enough photos already? Because this fella needs a nap”.
By the way, the cuteness didn’t end with Andrew. Their other baby, Hattie, was quite a showstopper. Just look at that face! As someone who would love to incorporate dog photography into my daily life, you can imagine how stoked I was when they invited Hattie to join in the fun. She had absolutely no problem taking center stage and no one even tried to stop her. How could you say no to her?
I love this family and everything about Andrew’s session. Seeing new parents, baby, and dog altogether in complete happiness makes me so very, very happy too.
