This time last year I was blogging my first beach vacation of the year. And I said everything my head and heart know to be true.  Vacation is everything.  It recharges the soul.  It allows you an escape from reality.  It’s the single most important thing you can do for yourself and for your family.  But unlike last year I kept my camera at home (for the most part…..I can’t part entirely from it…what am I? Some kind of animal?).  This time I wanted to be present. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment to photograph the water to crash on the shore, I opted to feel the water crash on the shore.  So this go round, the images are less, but the mental pictures are incredible.  So next time you’re spending the most special (and valuable) time with your loved ones, put the distractions away and soak it all in.  Be present for your kids.  For your spouse.  You won’t regret it.
