It’s funny, no matter what I do, I am constantly working to improve my skills, test my strengths, and attempt new things. In my 9-5 job, I’m a freak. I’m uber-competitive….just ask my sister or any of my co-workers. I’m no different with my photography. So this past weekend I decided it was time to step out of my comfort zone and photograph couples. It’s pretty apparent that I absolutely adore photographing children. And now that I have Camden, there’s even more passion in it. But couples, that’s totally different. That’s a whole other ballgame and one that I’m dying to master.
I emailed my friend Blayne (an amazing architectural photographer) and asked if she’d be willing to grab her boyfriend for a guinea pig session. They kindly obliged. We took to the incredibly gorgeous Westminster campus (if you’ve seen The Blind Side, you know the school) as well as Hermi’s Bridge and spent the afternoon practicing. Blayne and Jimmy were fantastic. And adorable. And completely in love. And after a while, Jimmy started directing and posing. I think he was more comfortable in this session than Blayne and I were! And did I mention he was a trooper?
Thank you to Blayne and Jimmy for being the best test subjects ever. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
