This photo series started off as a project. Something to force a change in my work. When I started this series last January, I never thought it would take off as it did. By May I’d photographed 40 children (including my own son). It’s a series I plan to continue for years to come. Being able to document these children in such a simple way has made this project/series something absolutely incredible. But something hit me today in how I was sharing these images. While I adore individual expressions, I almost feel that seeing the individual expressions combined as one, tell a much better story. The changes in mood; the changes in happiness; the changes in the freedom to be themselves. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this photo series, you can see them on the blog as well as on Instagram #thefaceofchildhood.
I love these. You are right. You have captured so many feelings in these photos: exuberance, simple joy, boyishness, and charm.
