This whole 365 – photo a day world I’ve lived in for 91 days has taught me so much about simplifying the idea of family photos. Sometimes we forget that there is so much beauty in our everyday. And this knowledge has sparked a love of the simplicity of life. When we have children each day is special. Each day is filled with giggles, smiles, and the occasional tear, but more than anything it’s filled with change. Each day is unique from the day before and in our fast paced world, hanging on to those moments is increasingly important. So photographing the little things is becoming something I hold dear. For in years to come, without these pictures, these days will be just memories.
So while I may not be able to photograph every family, promise me you’ll pick up your own cameras – iPhones, androids, dSLRs, compact cameras, doesn’t matter. Take that picture of your baby giggling at the family dog; dancing to his favorite song; crawling across the living room floor; or even smothering her face in hummus. I promise you- you won’t regret it.
I feel all of these things about the morning I got to spend with Oliver, Blayne and Jimmy. Because I know that even if it’s just a morning of cuddling, it’s a precious memory to them. Something they’ll want to hang onto and remember forever. And I so loved being a part of their day.
