This is one of those topics I’ve pontificated about time and again, but sometimes at a session, I’m reminded why photos matter.  This summer I was asked to photograph these stunning people  (see images below).  While everyone’s summer was coming to a close, they were preparing to send their son off to college.  Of course, it’s a completely normal step in life.  Your child graduates high school, your child attends college.  But when you take a step back, as a mom, as a dad, as a sibling, your life is going to change.

These images are of a milestone in their lives.  And they matter.  Maybe it’s more than the annual family photography session.  Maybe it’s about recording this moment for posterity.  One day these kids will have moved on, maybe even have kids of their own.  But these moments will be there.  These moments of a time before their oldest moved off to college.  Before their beautiful daughter graduated high school.  These photos are a treasure that will be there years from now to look back on.

Because photos matter.
