These last few months I’ve set forth on a black and white photo series I’m calling The Face of Childhood to document children ages 4-10. I believe that between these ages we see true childhood take shape. At 4 years old, these little humans are no longer toddlers. They are morphing into these personality filled, giggly, happy, independent little beings. While the other end of the spectrum, 10 year olds are starting to age out of true childhood. There are signs of the teenage angst growing in them…they are more aware of how they are perceived, yet they still cling to the joys and silliness that is childhood. And given the freedom, they are more than happy to let go of things and just be themselves. This project continues to grow with every child I’m fortunate enough to photograph. I am so grateful for the kids who have volunteered to be a part of this photo series and excited to see where this project goes…
