While I should be sharing Camden’s 10 month photos, I haven’t exactly had the chance to take them yet. Instead, I wanted share some of the everyday moments.

Sometimes I get so caught up in documenting his monthly birthdays, that I forget to photograph the little things. So one afternoon several weeks ago, I followed him as he drank his bottle on the kitchen floor, watched the dogs skirt by him, and tried with all his might to pull open each and every kitchen cabinet. These are the photos I’ll look back on and smile at. Because I’ll know this was a few weeks after he learned to crawl, but just a few weeks before he was pulling himself up to standing. One of the many precious moments from his first year that I’ll cherish. And while they may not be displayed on a wall, they are no less special or beautiful. After all, these are images of the real Camden. Silly, sweet, and incredibly determined.

My little guy loves everyone he meets. Sometimes it takes him a second to smile, but when he does, he could light up a room. But when he sees his Auntie Jenn Jenn, it’s something more. It’s an unspoken bond. It’s special.

While we were visiting our parents a few weeks back, I caught Jennifer and Camden in a moment and I knew I had to capture it. I don’t know what they were saying or even doing at that particular moment, but I love how he’s looking up at her and hanging on her every word.

They met at a country bar in Orange County, California. And it didn’t take them long to realize they were meant for each other. After dating for two years, Erin and Greg married 10 years ago at the Orange County Courthouse in Orange County, California. And this photo…well, it is the only picture from their wedding day. They left California in 2005 and headed straight to Georgia where they’ve built a beautiful family and wonderful life ever since. And now they’ve been husband and wife in Georgia longer than they were even together in California. And I’m pretty sure they’ve never looked back.

This past Valentine’s Day, while out to dinner, Greg asked Erin if she would remarry him. Of course, she said yes, simply thinking it was a rhetorical question. But in a matter of seconds, Greg started talking dates for them to renew their vows and Erin realized he was being serious.

And the wheels were set in motion for an absolutely perfect day.

Surrounded by family and friends, Greg and Erin renewed their love for each other, all the while showing their gorgeous daughter, Macie, what true love is all about.

In case you ever wondered, I love photographing kids and families. It’s like I’m receiving a behind the scenes look at the sweet and loving relationships between moms and dads and their precious little ones. This particular session was extra special for me. I’ve known Mary T. (the mom) since I was about 14. We met on a tennis court in Montgomery, Alabama at one of the many tennis tournaments of our younger years. I don’t even know how it happened, but we became friends that day and have been friends ever since. Of course, for the record, she beat me pretty soundly in that match. She was and still is a force to be reckoned with on the courts.

I’m embarrassed to admit that until this past weekend I had never met her amazing husband, Bud, nor their sweet little ones, Win and Ella Kate. When she asked me to photograph her family, I was beside myself. What I learned is that Mary T. is still the sweet soul I met all those years ago. I can see her kindness in her children…and I know Bud is one lucky man.

Our afternoon at Aldridge Gardens will go down as one of my most favorite sessions ever.

This was one of the first free weekends I’ve had in a very, very long time. So Ashley and I decided to take a family road trip up to Athens for the G-Day Game. Seeing this as an opportunity to introduce Camden to Georgia football, we packed up the car and hit the road. The most Camden has ever experienced in his short time here has been visiting his grandparents in Tuscaloosa and the occasional excursion to Costco and the grocery store. Amazingly enough, with that little travel experience under his belt, neither Ashley nor I were nervous about taking him to the game. What’s impressive is how well Camden handled it all.

We started off downtown…hit up one of my old school favorites, Helix, where we bought Camden his first Star Wars book. Then we headed down to the Grill for lunch. One of my dearest and oldest friends met up with us, but of course, being the space cadet I am, I forgot to take pictures…yeap, I’m a brainiac. And thanks to a previous request by my sweet friend Allie, we took some pictures of Camden in front of the arches on campus, making sure that none of us walked under them. Then we packed Camden up in the Baby Bjorn and headed down to the game. Okay, so we may have only lasted about 45 minutes, but all in all, we had an absolutely fantastic day. It’s so rare that I get to visit Athens, that being able to take my husband and my boy made the day sublimely perfect. These are the moments that mean the most. And that is why I will always lug my camera with me…wherever I go.

The past 9 months have gone by in the blink of an eye. If I think too much about it, I might cry. Our little boy is growing up so fast…too fast. And while I want to stop the clocks and freeze time, I know I can’t. Because watching Camden grow and change and become the cutest little person ever is the most amazing gift. Each month I hunker down to take and then edit his photos is something so special and something that Katie a year ago never could have imagined doing. But now it’s routine. It’s a part of our lives. And I look forward to it each and every month. The changes I see through the lens are becoming greater. When I first placed Camden on that little white blanket, he was so tiny and fragile. He threw his feet and waved his arms a little. Now he’s crawling across the floor, chasing after Libby and Justice, and getting as far away from my camera as he possibly can (within the confines of the four walls we’re set up in). He’s pulling up on doors and he’s making silly faces.

I know these monthly photos will come to an end in a few short months so I thank each and everyone of you for indulging me while I share these photos of our precious little boy. Your comments here and on Facebook make me smile and make me so happy to have you be a part of Camden’s life.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love this job…and I use that word loosely. This past weekend I photographed this precious couple and their 20 children/grandchildren/daughter-in-law/sons-in-law/grandson-in-law. Jim, the patriarch, had me in stitches. I think it’s safe to say that we became fast friends…so much so, I hugged him before I left.

Everyone gathered in honor of this lovely lady though, Jane, to celebrate her 80th birthday. It had been a few years since the family as a whole had been photographed and Jane’s birthday was the perfect occasion to do just that. But before getting the 22 of them together, the individual families gathered for a few of their own shots. And here’s a sampling from our afternoon together.

I’m sorry, but I love this girl. And it might not look like it by that sweet smile on her face, but she is one fierce tennis competitor. Look for her in a few years on the college circuit. No, really. I say, Go Dawgs! Yes, Blaine. Go Dawgs.

This one cracks me up. I love getting a few shots of people and their silliness. This family did not disappoint. Sam and Austin, I’m looking at you.

But in two seconds, they were in perfect pose position.

Happy birthday, Jane! You have one fantastic family.

One of the things that I love most about this job is that I meet the most wonderful people. At my day job, I work with the same great people day in and day out. Very few new faces enter into our daily lives, but with photography, each session is new. New names, new faces, new personalities and I realize just how lucky I really am.

Meeting Liam and Grant was no exception. These two boys are vibrant, creative, spunky, and just plain sweet. They adore each other, their gorgeous mom and dad, and no doubt will love their soon to be baby sister.
