Starting this month, I’m partaking in a blog circle with the most amazingly talented photographers. Each of us will document a day in our own lives. For me, this has proven to be a challenge. My daily life consists of spending 2 hrs in a car. Working in advertising. And doing a whole lot of editing/blogging at my home computer. And of course, spending all the other hours in the day with my sweet husband and beautiful boy. So when my Day In the Life date was chosen, I knew it was meant to be. This past Saturday, my husband, son and I packed up our car and headed to my parents’ house to celebrate not one birthday, but three birthdays. Crazy, but somehow everyone in my family has incredibly similar birthdays. So we drove across state lines to celebrate my dad’s birthday, my husband’s birthday, and my grandfather’s 99th birthday. Not a bad day to photograph. Granted, most of it was spent in the car, and I may have sneaked a few selfies in…(come on…I had to hold my camera all day….cut me some slack!) but we’ll just pretend the majority of it was spent eating cake. Lots and lots of cake. And celebrating these three amazing men who I love so, so dearly.
Head on over to the super talented Ashley Daugherty’s blog to see her Day In the Life.
Let the fun begin!
OMG, I had no idea you were taking all these shots for a blog. I’m moved beyond tears. The ordinariness of the home morning shots is something in itself to be cherished. You can look back years from now and feel the moments that you lived with Ashley, Camden, two pups and one black cat! The trip is also a typical one with the 459 sign, a little one staring at you from the backseat in his headphones, and the radio tuned to Home, by none other than PHILLIP PHILLIPS! And then the arrival at the nursing home with cake, gifts, plates, balloons and a little one in tow. This by far was the best part of the day. To see our family together for D’s 99th birthday was so special. Loved all the pictures of D, who rallied when he saw you, JJ and Camden come in. Can’t wait to show him the pictures tonight! The shots of Camden in Bobby’s pink (used to be red) convertible, playing the piano, and checking out the computer on Pop Pop’s lap show the passing of the day into night when we adults celebrated yet two more birthdays with a big chocolate cake. Having my girls here was special, but to have Ashley and Camden here to make a perfect day for birthdays, made the day unforgettable.
