This is a session I couldn’t wait to photograph.  Every second of it filled with smiles and kisses and the most amazing toothless grin you’ve ever seen.  Photographing Byrd was almost an awakening for me.  It made me take a good look at what it is about my body of work that I most love.  And I realized that it was the happiness I have been documenting.  In your children.  These playful, silly, smiley beings. Because really, is there anything more beautiful than your little one’s smile?  It can completely uplift you.  That smile can wash over you and make you forget everything.  It’s why we wake up in the morning.  It’s why we hurry home at night.  It’s why we linger too long when it’s time to say goodnight. It’s what fills our hearts with joy and makes us feel whole.
And Byrd, you are a beautiful girl, but your smile…wow…your smile could light up the world.
