There are so many sweet things to say about this session and this family. The smiles were endless. The hugs were tight. The silliness was plenty. And the love was so, so sweet. I’m so lucky to have known this mom for so many years. We’ve been “blog buddies” since way back when blogging was all the rage. We’ve been new moms together. And we’ve watched each other’s photography businesses grow.
This past fall, after having a few Birmingham families make the drive to Atlanta, I decided to make the drive to them. Within about 2 minutes of announcing the Birmingham sessions, Melissa had booked the first session. And it was pretty perfect. As photographers we envision how each session will go, but when it starts, you can’t plan for certain moments. The moment when that precious little boy puts on his Captain America mask. The moment he’s tossed high up in the air. The moment he gives you an all knowing wink. The moment his mommy hugs him tight. The moment the entire family makes monkey faces. And the moment that sweet little boy leans over and kisses his mommy on the head. Out of the blue. For no other reason than he thinks his mom is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And the moment when mom and son are making an air heart that ends in a kiss…a moment that is a secret little language between only them…the moment you slyly wipe a tear off your cheek because you can’t believe you were so fortunate as to witness a moment as beautiful as this.
If you’re wondering if I’ll be doing sessions again in Birmingham, you better believe I will.
