Sitting down to write a recap of 2014 is hard. Trying to put into words what this year meant to me as a photographer and a business owner is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I’ve been sitting here hitting the preview button on this blog post (and let’s be honest, at this point I’ve only got pictures posted) I feel like I can finally see what it is in my work that I love. It’s the fact that it’s not perfect, but it can still be beautiful. I spent so much time this year focusing on the technical aspects and what I’ve learned comes from each face, family, smile I photograph. What I have taken away from this year isn’t the number of sessions I’ve had or the sessions I still haven’t blogged, but it’s the heartfelt details, that without these photographs, those moments…the glance of a mom looking at her daughter as she holds her new baby; the tears of joy the mom cries as she and her husband love their newborn: the absolute love a family holds for their beloved doggie: the sassiness of all the little boys and girls I photograph; the sheer joy of flying through the air; the excitement of the unknown college future; the kiss a big sibling gives to the new baby: and every emotion I witnessed throughout this truly beautiful year… might be lost forever.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting me to record each of your special and wonderful moments. Each and everyone of you continues to open my eyes to the love that is out there. Sometimes it just takes a click of the shutter to see it.
xoxo-
k.
